| Job Summary:
|
To provide effective financial management and control for the institution by ensuring timely preparation of accurate financial reports, maintenance of sound accounting systems, and adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant will deputize the Finance Manager and play a key role in supporting strategic financial planning and decision-making processes. | ||||||||

| Core Responsibilities
|
· Ensure proper posting and reconciliation of all accounting transactions in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and institutional policies. · Review management accounts and provide variance analysis against budgets, highlighting key financial trends and recommendations. · Oversee the preparation of branch financial reports and consolidation of results · Monitor and analyze budget performance monthly, ensuring that expenditure remains within approved limits. · Provide timely advice to management on cost control and revenue optimization opportunities. · Monitor daily cash balances to maintain optimal liquidity levels for branch operations. · Supervise cash management and treasury-related activities, including Cash in Vault verification, cash certificate management, and bank reconciliations. · Ensure teller accounts are reconciled to zero and follow up on shortages or overages promptly. · Prepare and review monthly payroll for branch staff and ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, LST etc.). · Review and strengthen internal controls to minimize financial and operational risks. · Maintain an up-to-date fixed assets register aligned with the institution’s accounts. · Coordinate annual fixed asset verification exercises and ensure proper valuation, tagging, and disposal in line with policy. · Supervise and mentor branch accountants, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and internal control procedures. · Deputize the Finance Manager by providing leadership in financial reporting, planning, and control during absences. · Support the development and enforcement of finance policies, procedures, and manuals. · Perform any other duty reasonably assigned to you by management

| Personal Specification | |||||||||
| Education & Certifications: | · Bachelor’s Degree in either Finance and Accounting, Commerce (Accounting), or Business Administration (Accounting) or any other relevant field from a recognized University.
· Full professional accounting qualification with membership to CPA or ACCA |

| Essential Knowledge and Experience | · Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar/related position.
· High integrity, attention to detail, and excellent analytical and leadership skills · Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial controls, and microfinance regulations. |
